Why Is Medifast So Popular?
By: Lindsey Price: I sometimes hear from folks who don’t quite understand or get the medifast diet. I’m often asked what’s so special about the diet or why it has been around as long as it has. I heard from someone who asked me: “can you explain to me why medifast is so popular? Why has it endured when there are newer diets that spend more money on celebrity spokespeople? Why are there so many people on this diet?”
I can’t speak for anyone else, of course. But I can tell you what I have always found alluring about medifast and I will share those things with you below.
It’s Effective: At the end of the day, a diet that doesn’t help you lose weight is a waste of your time and money. Fad diets come and go, but most don’t hang around because they either don’t work or if they do work they are too difficult or inconvenient to have any longevity. Medifast has been extensively studied in clinical studies and shown to be effective. And that’s great. But I also found that some of the best spokespeople for this diet are every day people – moms, dads, students or people who just want to get healthy and feel better. Many of them will tell you that medifast worked pretty well for them without a lot of difficulty.
It’s Very Convenient: For me, convenience was probably the biggest draw of this diet. I’ve never had a lot patience with diets that required me to shop at out of the way health food stores or to make elaborate meals that wasted both time and money. Medifast does most of the cooking, shopping, and planning for you. Since 5 out of your six daily meals are prepackaged, there is very little that you need to do other than chose your meals for the day and heat up or mix together what you have chosen. Yes, you do need to come up with one “lean and green meal” per day, but this can be as easy as throwing together a meal of lean grilled meat and a bagged salad.
It’s Easy To Follow And To Be On: You don’t have to keep track of what you have eaten or to count calories or keep track of your carbs. As long as you eat the diet’s meals and then follow the guidelines for your lean and green meal and daily approved snacks (if you want or choose to include snacks,) then you are fine. It really is as simple as ordering your package and then choosing what you are going to eat that day. There is nothing to keep track of or calculate. And this frees you up to worry about or turn your attention to other things that are a lot more fun than dieting.
Medifast Offers A Lot Of Free Support: Once you create an account, you have access to a lot of free resources and support that you can take advantage of at any time. There are blogs from people who have had success that share what has worked for them. There are counselors to help you with any questions you might have. There are free reports, tips, and recipes. And on the forums, you’ll find a whole community of dieters exactly like yourself where you can share your experiences or just find someone to listen.
Now, if you’re really not extroverted or would prefer to keep to yourself, that’s fine too. No one forces you to participate or checks up on you. But I think that the company offers this because studies have repeatedly shown that people are much successful with weight loss when they have plenty of support.
It’s Reasonably Priced: I honestly think that medifast is one of the best dieting deals out there. If you take advantage of coupons, you can often get by on about $8 per day for five meals. Yes, you’ll need to buy groceries for your lean and green meal, but I have found that I spent less on this diet than I did when I was buying groceries and eating out. They don’t make you pay any membership fees. Nor do you have to pay per pound. You only pay for the food that you consume and you don’t have to sign a contract. I haven’t found a better deal for a diet that is as convenient, easy and effective. Of course, this is only my opinion but I’ve found that many share it.
